Heartie was a plush toy in the shape of a red heart on legs. He had horns, arms, big blue eyes and a huge smiling mouth. He lived in a toy store with many other toys, but he felt lonely and different. He wondered why he had horns when he was supposed to be a heart.
One day, a little girl named Lila came to the toy store with her mother. She saw Heartie and immediately liked him. She picked him up and hugged him. Heartie felt warm and happy. He hoped that Lila would take him home.
Lila asked her mother if she could buy Heartie. Her mother looked at the price tag and said it was too expensive. She told Lila to put him back and choose another toy. Lila was sad, but she obeyed. She whispered to Heartie, "I'm sorry, I wish I could take you with me. You are the most special toy I've ever seen." She kissed him and put him back on the shelf. Heartie felt a tear roll down his cheek. He realized that he was special, and that someone loved him for who he was.
